Approach
We begin by defining use, reliability or consequence requirements, geometry, materials, design life, actions, environment, interfaces and governing standards. The analytical model is developed only to the fidelity required by the structural question. Results are examined through equilibrium, force flow, deformation, stability, governing limit states, independent calculations and constructability before design information is issued.
Depending on jurisdiction and contract basis, work may be developed under Indian Standards, the EN Eurocodes, applicable masonry codes, AISC and ASCE frameworks for steel and loading, or ACI requirements for structural concrete. Editions, national annexes and project supplements are agreed at project commencement.
